Rotary

It's rotary time. Why? Because I said so, and I'm on a huge rx-7 kick right now.

Back when Mazdas were good they made RX-7's. Pretty much one of my favorite cars ever, but I would probably never buy one. Why you say? Well because they have the fuel economy of a large truck, virtually no trunk space and they are known for their unreliability (inb4 apex seals). Which is why it's hard to find one in todays market. They probably all died.

But you know, what can you do. Well actually you can buy an RX-8 but they're heavier and slower, sure you get more luxuries with an RX-8 but meh. I'm not a huge fan of how they look.

The kicker of the RX series is that they only have 1.3 liter engines. Think about
a 2 liter bottle of soda, then realize this car's engine is smaller than that bottle.

Yet these cars are still really quick. Which is all made possible by utilizing Rotary engines.
Rotary engines are complicated and don't use pistons. Instead they using some sort of spinning nonsense. Look, I can't even explain it. But Mazda is the only company crazy enough to use them. Which doesn't surprise me seeing as they're the only company crazy enough to put psychopathic smiles on all their cars... eesh. The upside to a rotary is you get the power of big engine but the extremely low weight...of an extremely small engine. Grood stuff!

Anyways, RX-7's are hella tight. I've only found one for sale in my area and it was around 22,000 dollars.

God damn.

I want dat!

But anyways, maybe when I'm super rich with my 10 car garage I'll pick up an RX and live in my little boy fantasy world.

Turbochargers VS. Superchargers

Okay so you have your car but it's not as fast as you'd like it to be. One of the biggest (certainly not the cheapest) ways to get noticeable power from your car is to turbo or supercharge it.

That's your basic turbocharger. Of course there are shit tons of pipes and connective supports you need to install to your car if you wanna hook this beast up. It can be pretty complicated and if you're not a pro I suggest you don't go out trying to do it yourself.

I mean, Just look at this beast!

Have fun with that!

If turbo/super chargers are so complicated, why bother with them?
Because you're stupid. No, I'm sorry, It's because giving some car boost is a great way to give it some serious speed. I've seen a tuned Integra GS-R hit almost 300hp just by having a good turbocharger set up. That my friend, is not too shabby.

A turbocharger works by forcing extreme amounts of air into  your engine which is why they are called "Forced induction systems" Idealy you want to get 50% more power from your engine when installing a turbo kit, however it doesn't always work out that way but expect anywhere from 30-40% more power, which is still beastly.

Now when it comes to whether you want a turbo or supercharger it depends on your preference I suppose. The main difference is a supercharger runs off of a belt mechanism attached to your engine.   A turbo on the otherhand get's its power from the exhaust stream. So in theory Turbo's are more "effective" because it uses "wasted" energy. However Turbo's are often criticized for something called Turbo lag. You won't even notice the power of the turbos until you get into the higher RPM.

Personally I wouldn't care which I have on my car. Either way you're going to spend a lot of money, and either way you're going to get a noticeable power boost. One important thing to note about boosting your car though. You're going to need some new gauges in your dashboard to monitor your oil pressure, boost level etc. Also you need to make sure your engine can handle all the compressed air being shoved into it. I wouldn't even consider boosting my car unless I had a built engine.

If chu still don't understand what I just said about turbos and super chargers and boosting and all that nonsense then check out the link at howstuffworks.com.

A boosted rotary engine....mother of god...

Also, sorry I don't update as much as I used to. I've been hella busy but I'm trying to get back into it.

Drifting!

For those of you who aren't familiar with drifting it's more or less driving...sideways.
You swing your ass out when you go around a corner and just 'drift' around it.

It's not faster than normally going around a corner...
But it looks damn cool. It's actually pretty amazing when you see it happen in real life. (irl)
The tires screeching and smoke going everywhere (well sometimes..)

If you've ever played any recent need for speed games then you should know what drifting is. Sometimes they call it handbrake turning.

Typically it's just RWD cars in the drifting business

Typical drifting cars include (but are not limited to): Nissan 240sx, Nissan 350z, Nissan silvia, Nissan Skyline (If you can afford it), Toyota Corolla AE86, Mazda Rx-7, and Ford Mustang.

Glorious
Personally, I have no experience drifting. Kinda sad, but the first car I owned was FWD and then I bought a truck...so yeh..... I would love to try it if someone lets me thrash on their car. That'd be greatly appreciated haha.

The Subaru Impreza is getting popular in the drifting scene, as are other 4WD cars. It's not really "True Drifting" however you can still slide them around corners.

Anyways. Here's a little video of some crazy foo drifting a nice 350z around a track.
BTW: Illegal drifting is well...illegal. I wouldn't recommend trying your drifting skills on a public road. If anything find an empty parking lot or something far away from everyone. (Drifting is obnoxious and people will hate you if you do it in public) If you wanna drift go to your local track and sign up for a track day!

I wish I had enough money to thrash around a 350z. Makes me angry a lil..

Impreza vs skyline gt vs rx 7

If you haven't already seen this video, watch it! What is better than three crazy Asian fellows racing eachother with sick ass cars? Nothing. That's what.

You know it's a good video when the first words you hear are "gay monster"

Kinda makes me want to buy an rx-7 now.. hmmm

Mazda

Remember when Mazda's used to look like this

Rx-7's are sick nasty cars, there's no denying
inb4 apex seals

Even this Mazda 3? 6? Well whatever it is, I like it.
I would feel comfortable driving those around town

But what quite frankly creeps me out is what Mazda is doing with all their new cars...

Does this car looks okay to you?
It seems a little too....happy.

Don't see what I mean?

Let me put it this way.

I don't know...Just driving around in something which almost certainly going to look happier than me just seems a little weird. Some guy is gonna cut me off, gonna look back in his rear view mirrors and see that stupid smiling face.

They even gave the RX-8 a smile!

What the hell Mazda. You're too happy. Get angry sometimes.

Mitsubishi has a the right idea.

The top 5 things on the road that piss me off

We've all seen it and been a part of if it at one point. There's no denying that some point in your driving life you've been extremely pissed off at the car in front of you or behind you or whatever. I'm typically not an angry driver, I've only had a few fits of road rage in my days but there are just somethings that piss me off when I'm driving. Let's get the countdown started!

Number 5: Excessive amount of bumper stickers on a car

Okay so this one is more of an annoyance to me than anything. Personally I think bumper stickers are tacky as hell, and when you cover up the ass of your car with a "hilarious" bumper sticker you got at hot topic or spencers or something in effort to be cool well just.... no...

This is NOT cool!
No one cares what radio station you listen to and I guarantee no one is going to save the earth because your car told them to.

Wtf man...

Number 4: Loud music/subwoofers
I remember the days when I walked home from High school. The very minute school got out the kids rushed to their parents cars they're borrowing and it's like the parking lot turned into one of those subwoofer bass competitions. There was one time some guy drove by me blasting Himsa and I thought it was the coolest thing ever, cause I really like them. (Listen to Himsa)
But that is literally the only time I approved of it. If you blast good music then go for it. But let's face it.

It's guys like this who are going to be blasting their music

I understand you've spent a lot of money on your sound system, but you don't need to show it off 24/7. Especially after 11pm that's just being a dick.

oontz oontz oontz oontz oontz

Number 3:People on their cellphones
I see this happen basically every time I go out for a drive. There are laws against it now but that certainly hasn't changed anything. Talking on the phone while driving is one thing but when I see people texting while driving I  just wanna give them a little tap and wake them up.

It's usually the teen crowd that does it. I just don't see whats so important that just can't wait like 5 minutes. It's just another reason everyone should drive manual. Sure you could still text while driving but it'd be harder.

It's stupidly dangerous and overly obnoxious.

Number 2: Kid's who think they're in a fast and furious movie
You know exactly what I mean. You pull up at a red light, look to your right and see this.

"Don't show my mom what I did to her car!"

He looks at you, looks back at the light, looks back at you, glances back at the light. The light turns green and he floors it, his engine is revving at it's peak and admittedly he is getting way ahead of you.

Sad part is your only going 25mph because there's another red light no more than 30ft from the last one.

I see this more often than I would like to admit. It's obnoxious and no, you're not impressing anyone.
I was following a fox body mustang one day and at every light that turned green he spun his tires and shot off just to stop maybe 4 seconds later.

Whatever, I guess he decided his gas mileage was too good and would rather have it go to shit.

Speaking of terrible drivers that think they're constantly racing...

Number 1: Nissan 240sx drivers
You might think this is a weird number 1, but just think about it. How many 240sx drivers do you know? Probably not a lot right? Well out of all those people, how many of them are assholes?

Right.
All of them.

There's something about the 240sx that just makes the driver turn into a raging moron.

You are not allowed to tokyo drift wherever you want to!

To be fair my number 1 thing that pisses me off on the road is just generally bad drivers. People that speed for no reason, cut people off for no reason, don't use turn signals, brake at the last second and ugh..

It just makes me so angry, there are fucking rules for a reason, follow them.

I don't always follows the rules that's granted, I don't think anyone does. But for fucks sake stop being so stupid. I might drive fast sometimes but I don't do it when there's 50 other fucking cars around me and when I need to swerve around the people infront of me. It makes me wish I kept a gun in my car or better yet if my car...was a gun

Something like this would suffice.
Don't get me wrong though, I'm not saying we should all drive like granny's 24/7. But there's a time and a place for everything. If you constantly drive like a 240sx owner then quite frankly you don't deserve to be out there driving. Just sayin.
