The all new Dodge Dart

Well, When I say "All new" I don't really mean all new... The original Dart was produced by Dodge in the 1960's. I have little experience with these cars. But with most new Dodge models named after old Dodge models, despite it's name... this car has nothing to do with it's older model.

What makes this car less original is that it's more or less a copy and paste job from a fiat. Throw some Dodge badges and interior stylings and call it day.
HOWEVER, This is the car Dodge needs. At this point their most economical car is the Dodge Caliber/Jeep Compass/Jeep Patriot. (They're all essentially the same car) And get high 20's on the highway.

The old dart is quite the far cry from the 2013 version.

Anyway,  With the new Dart you get a few different engines to choose from... a 2.0L, a 2.4L, and a 1.4 fiat intercooled turbo engine with a loud BOOSH blow off valve.

Best of all, six speed manual in the basic model. Now that should be fun to drive.

Whether you like the styling or not, it will be interesting to see the gas guzzling Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep company get into the world of econoboxes.

New banner

So we just got a new banner from my long time friend and life partner (gay?)

He's a really talented freelance graphic artist you should check out his profile on deviant art,

And I know I don't update as often as I used to, but thankfully school is almost over, and once it is, it's back to business as usual.

Rotary

It's rotary time. Why? Because I said so, and I'm on a huge rx-7 kick right now.

Back when Mazdas were good they made RX-7's. Pretty much one of my favorite cars ever, but I would probably never buy one. Why you say? Well because they have the fuel economy of a large truck, virtually no trunk space and they are known for their unreliability (inb4 apex seals). Which is why it's hard to find one in todays market. They probably all died.

But you know, what can you do. Well actually you can buy an RX-8 but they're heavier and slower, sure you get more luxuries with an RX-8 but meh. I'm not a huge fan of how they look.

The kicker of the RX series is that they only have 1.3 liter engines. Think about
a 2 liter bottle of soda, then realize this car's engine is smaller than that bottle.

Yet these cars are still really quick. Which is all made possible by utilizing Rotary engines.
Rotary engines are complicated and don't use pistons. Instead they using some sort of spinning nonsense. Look, I can't even explain it. But Mazda is the only company crazy enough to use them. Which doesn't surprise me seeing as they're the only company crazy enough to put psychopathic smiles on all their cars... eesh. The upside to a rotary is you get the power of big engine but the extremely low weight...of an extremely small engine. Grood stuff!

Anyways, RX-7's are hella tight. I've only found one for sale in my area and it was around 22,000 dollars.

God damn.

I want dat!

But anyways, maybe when I'm super rich with my 10 car garage I'll pick up an RX and live in my little boy fantasy world.

Turbochargers VS. Superchargers

Okay so you have your car but it's not as fast as you'd like it to be. One of the biggest (certainly not the cheapest) ways to get noticeable power from your car is to turbo or supercharge it.

That's your basic turbocharger. Of course there are shit tons of pipes and connective supports you need to install to your car if you wanna hook this beast up. It can be pretty complicated and if you're not a pro I suggest you don't go out trying to do it yourself.

I mean, Just look at this beast!

Have fun with that!

If turbo/super chargers are so complicated, why bother with them?
Because you're stupid. No, I'm sorry, It's because giving some car boost is a great way to give it some serious speed. I've seen a tuned Integra GS-R hit almost 300hp just by having a good turbocharger set up. That my friend, is not too shabby.

A turbocharger works by forcing extreme amounts of air into  your engine which is why they are called "Forced induction systems" Idealy you want to get 50% more power from your engine when installing a turbo kit, however it doesn't always work out that way but expect anywhere from 30-40% more power, which is still beastly.

Now when it comes to whether you want a turbo or supercharger it depends on your preference I suppose. The main difference is a supercharger runs off of a belt mechanism attached to your engine.   A turbo on the otherhand get's its power from the exhaust stream. So in theory Turbo's are more "effective" because it uses "wasted" energy. However Turbo's are often criticized for something called Turbo lag. You won't even notice the power of the turbos until you get into the higher RPM.

Personally I wouldn't care which I have on my car. Either way you're going to spend a lot of money, and either way you're going to get a noticeable power boost. One important thing to note about boosting your car though. You're going to need some new gauges in your dashboard to monitor your oil pressure, boost level etc. Also you need to make sure your engine can handle all the compressed air being shoved into it. I wouldn't even consider boosting my car unless I had a built engine.

If chu still don't understand what I just said about turbos and super chargers and boosting and all that nonsense then check out the link at howstuffworks.com.

A boosted rotary engine....mother of god...

Also, sorry I don't update as much as I used to. I've been hella busy but I'm trying to get back into it.
